The People Behind EdLoop

EdLoop is built by educators who have lived the feedback gap from every seat in the system — the classroom, the coaching cycle, the principal's office, and the district. We build the infrastructure we wished we had.

Founder & CEO

Chris Waston

Chris Waston is a Detroit native, veteran educator, and the founder of EdLoop. Fifteen years across the education ecosystem shaped both the problem he's solving and how he's built to solve it. Chris built EdLoop out of what he kept seeing from every seat in the system: teachers drowning in feedback work, students getting information too late to act on it, and families operating in the dark.

EdLoop has been recognized by the Detroit Startup Fund and won the Mass Tech Adoption Challenge at the Black Tech Saturdays Digital Empowerment Summit. Chris started his career as a classroom teacher in Detroit and moved through roles as an instructional coach, assistant principal, and district-level Director of Curriculum & Instruction for Mathematics. Alongside EdLoop, he continues to do work with Michigan State University and with Boldly Moving Education Ahead.

He holds a bachelor's in elementary education with a mathematics minor and a master's in teaching and curriculum with a K-12 administration concentration, both from Michigan State University, and is a certified K-12 administrator in the State of Michigan. Chris lives in Detroit with his wife Sarah and their four children.
